Happy Halloween

Since I don't get to dress up this year for any Halloween festivities. I thought I'd wear my costume on my blog. I had a lot of fun putting this together a couple of years ago. For years I never seemed to have a good costume so I decided to make one and since then I've only had occassion to wear it once. Happy Halloween.

A Field Trip for UEA

I probably should have worked today, but instead I played hookey and went to Hoogle Zoo, lunch and Gilgal garden with the Nelsons for UEA. It was perfect!! I won't mind paying the fiddler tomorrow for playing today.

Hiking Stewart Falls

My neighbors, the Nelsons, and I hiked Stewart Falls yesteday. It is a short 4 mile roundtrip hike but very fun. We let the almost-3-year-old Abbey set the pace and so it took us a while. She hiked all the way to the falls and over half of the way back. After walking a mile she told me that she thought "this is very fun".

A Great Birthdate: A Great Lady

My Grandma, Menita Daines, had a very cool birthdate; October 10, 1910 (or 10-10-10). She would have been 98 today! Here is the only picture I have with her and me when I was 4.

Ode to Napoleon

I dislocated my left shoulder 2 weeks ago, owwww. My ode to Napoleon is I've been walking around with my arm pinned to my side. Although I think my face looks more dour than his.

I've been to the doctor's 3 times to have it set. It is finally in and now I just need to let it heal (easier said than done). It's really painful and I don't even want to think about how much pain medicine I've taken. However more frustrating than the pain is all the things I can't do. But I am getting by. I wear a sling around the house but not out in public. Not that I've been out much. The walls of the house are starting to feel padded and very white. I didn't have any plans for this monhth so I guess I should be thankful that I can sit around for a couple of weeks and do nothing. I'll be glad when I can move and not think about my shoulder.

Hiking the Y

It is still amazing to me that only about a 20 minute drive from my home I can be at the trailhead of this wonderful hike! I've hiked it by myself a lot, but before blogging I never tried to create a memory of it.

Sorrow is born in the Hasty Heart...

... or so the play "The Hasty Heart" tries to refute. I received 3 tickets to any 2008 shows as a Christmas present from the Willes. I went to "Don't Drink the Water" in February by myself and decided I didn't really want to go to another play by myself if I could help it. So for the next play I sent out an invitation to my FHE group. I was really excited that 6 others wanted to come! We went last night to see the play at Orem's lovely theater-in-the-round Hale Center. I say 'lovely' because although the stage was awesome (as always) and the setting is a small, cozy theater, the physical condition of the theater itself is deterioating. We sat on the top row and got a close view of the leaky roof. Hard not to be worried about injesting mold or a cave-in.

While taking these pictures before the play started we worried we were disrupting the theater and that they were going to throw us out. Which is why we didn't take too many shots. Our flash was lighting up the stage, which was suppose to be setting the abiance of a hospital barracks at night.
